PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT:

 System Architect® 11.4.12.1 Released

As a valued System Architect® customer, UNICOM® Systems, Inc. would like to inform you that a new version of System Architect(SA) has been commercially released. UNICOM continues to drive improvements to the product within themed areas to enable you to build and maintain a strategic, value-driven enterprise architecture.

System Architect 2025 – Update 1 – Version 11.4.12.1 – provides the following enhancements:

Frameworks and Methods: Customer Experience (CE) & User Experience (UX) Modeling – Several new diagram types have been introduced to enable you to map the User and Customer Experience:
Hopes and Fears Diagram
Persona Diagram
Problem Framing Diagram
Service Blueprint Diagram
User Experience Journey Map
User Experience Journey Map
User Experience Journey Map
These diagram types join the Brainstorming and Ideation diagram and the Ideas Hierarchy diagram, introduced previously as aids to improving your organization's efficiency. They are all independent of any framework and can be used in conjunction with Strategy Maps and Stakeholder Relationship diagrams, and also with the Customer Journey Map and Value Stream diagram available with TOGAF.

Several enhancements to the SA customizable metamodel and behavior were introduced to support the new diagram types, including a new free-floating Timeline symbol that can span across swimlanes.
Customizable Metamodel – Enhancements to SA's famed customizable metamodel include these new commands:
Depict Like "Swimlane Timeline": Provides a new horizontal timeline symbol type to be used as a timeline header on diagrams with vertical swimlanes. The symbol type is used on the new Service Blueprint diagram type.
Depict Like "Swimlane": Allows for an alternative symbol type of a swimlane with the same behavior as swimlane in order to allow it to represent a different definition.
Depict Like "Non-Swimlane-Able": Allows use of symbols that are not accommodated by swimlanes so that you can draw such symbols across swimlane boundaries, normally a swimlane will automatically increase in size so that new symbols added are always within a swimlane.
SA Usability – The following SA features have been enhanced:
Arrange Selected Symbols in Row or Column: These two new functions allow you to specify the desired gap between symbols. They are available in the Format > Arrange Symbols menu.
Resizing of Sequence Objects in Sequence Diagram: when resizing Sequence Object Lifeline symbols, the position of line connections is now taken into account so that the change in size that can be made is restricted to ensure lines remain connected. The names and comments of attached lines are no longer moved on sizing the Lifeline symbol.
Set Size of Icons in Draw Toolbar and Popup Menus: New Session Option (.ini file) settings allow you to set the size of icons as they appear in the toolbar and popup menus in SA and SAEM (IconSize_Toolbar and IconSize_Popup, respectively). A new IconSize Toolbar large setting is available; it applies when the large icons setting is active in the toolbar customization options.
Set Font of Menus and Toolbars: A new Session Option (.ini file) setting allows you to set the font to be used in menus and toolbars in SA and SAEM (SAMenuFont=fontface, fontsize).
Recovery of Diagrams in External Windows: On restarting after a crash, SA now restores diagrams that were opened in external windows with the external windows retaining their size and position on the desktop.
Data-Driven Behavior: The status text presented on running refresh on data-driven models has been improved to offer more useful feedback including the count and maximum number of relationship types and the name of the current relationship type being processed.
Access Control – Property Level Access Control (PLAC) – has been enhanced as follows:
Inheritance: Roles that inherit permission settings from another Role will now include any PLAC settings of that Role.
Duplication: Copying/Dragging Role permissions that contain Property Level settings and pasting them onto another Role will cause those Property Level settings to be added to the target.
Multiple encyclopedias: Property Level settings can be set for multiple Encyclopedia Mappings in one Role permission.
Merging: When a user is a member of multiple Roles and those Roles have the same permission type set, but with different Property Level settings that user will be given the more permissive of the values set for those properties.
Performance – Pasting node symbols onto a representationally consistent diagram is now much faster. Refresh now occurs after all symbols are pasted, vs after each one.
Import/Export – XML import/export operations now present any matters of concern in a display window rather than having a single message box per issue.
SA XT Home Page Customization – The ability to customize the SA XT home page via XML files in SA XT's PageFiles folder is enhanced as follows:
New Configuration Options: New configuration options are available to be applied to XML files in PageFiles folder:
Navigation Bar link Keywords: Using the component type 'NavLink' or 'link', you can set internal links. Available keywords are: home, bookmark, profile, refresh, dashboard, query, browser, and jsbrowser. Example: <component type="NavLink" target="home" label="Home" hovertext="Home" name="Home"/>.
Tabs on Home page: SA XT Home page content can be separated into tabs by surrounding PageFile components in <tab></tab> elements. Tab elements can include the label and hovertext as well. Example: <tab label="Main" hovertext="The Main Components"><component ...><component ...></tab>
SA XT Customization Tutorial Example File: A new XML file named PageFileTutorial.xml has been added to the group of XML files in the PageFiles folder of SA XT. This new file contains examples and explanations of all configuration options that users can use to build their own SA XT customization file.
SA XT Diagramming – Drawing diagrams in a browser with SA XT is enhanced as follows:
Added F8 (Zoom to 100%) and F9 (Zoom to 75%) keypress behavior.
A Cancel All button is provided in the Purge prompt dialog after multiple symbols have been selected to be purged. This makes the behavior consistent with SA.
When deleting a symbol on a Data Centric Hierarchy diagram, prompts for child nodes now appear when a parent node is being removed.
You can now open a page presenting the diagram Inconsistencies report, which will explain 'ghostbuster' errors presented where the underlying model is inconsistent with a symbol with regards to box-in-box relationships.
SA XT Usability – Obfuscate URL : The URL seen in a web browser when navigating SA XT web pages now includes a value 'url=…' which contains the server, encyclopedia, and workspace information. If users prefer not to include that information in the url, a new applications setting is available in the SA XT web.config file.
  <add key="EncodeURL" value="N"> <!--Set to Y to encode connection details in the URL-->
Setting this value to "Y" replaces the url value with encoded text instead of the server, encyclopedia, and workspace information.
SA XT Artificial Intelligence Importer – The Image Object Recognition Importer for SA XT is now provided via a separate installation, called the "System Architect XT/Image Recognition Importer Addon" – so that users can selectively install it to their SA XT installation.
Client Issues – A number of client issues are also fixed, as enumerated and described in the Release Notes.
